What is tarnishing?
It is common for silver jewelry, such as rings, necklaces, bracelets, and pendants, to darken over time. This phenomenon, called tarnishing , occurs when silver reacts with sulfur compounds in the air, as well as chemicals in water, lotions, perfumes, or sweat. Tarnishing is a natural process and does not indicate poor quality or damage to your jewelry.
Why we use 925 silver
At Taneja, all our silver jewelry is made from 925 silver , or sterling silver, which contains 92.5% pure silver and 7.5% other metals, usually copper. Sterling silver combines the elegance and brilliance of pure silver with the strength needed to create pieces that are durable and suitable for everyday wear.
How to care for your silver jewelry
- Clean your jewelry regularly with a soft polishing cloth or warm soapy water.
- Store them in an airtight case or pouch to reduce exposure to air and moisture.
- Avoid contact with harsh chemicals, such as household cleaners or chlorine.
-
Do not use: toothpaste, baking soda, abrasive products, or any cleaner containing ammonia. These products can scratch or tarnish the silver.
- For natural stones, use cleaning methods appropriate for each stone.
